Overview of the Company
Subject to act II of law 203/1991, the public business sector enterprises law was issued; consequently, the Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport replaced the Public Sector Authority for Maritime Transport established by the presidential decree no. 431/1983, and the Holding Company for Land Transport replaced the Public Sector Authority for Land and River Transport established by the presidential decree 430/1983.
- By Virtue of the Prime Minister’s Resolution no. 1499/2000, the Holding Company for Maritime Transport and the Holding Company for Land Transport were merged.
- Accordingly, the name of the company was amended after the merge to become the Holding Company for Maritime and Land Transport (an Egyptian joint stock holding company), based on the resolution of the minister of public business sector no. 104/2000.
The company plays a significant role in developing the national economy in light of the general policy of the country. This is achieved through its activities together with the activities performed by its subsidiaries. The company invests its capital independently, via its subsidiaries, or jointly with any other entity inside or outside Egypt, in any qualitative, integral or diverse activities in all fields in which the company is entitled to perform.
